and another year goes by......

So here we are, the beginning of the infamous 2012 and 2011 going out with a bang of record sales for my art. The show “Down the Rabbit Hole” at Framed on Fifth, in November, was such a huge success that December was still seeing the ripples of massive art sales. Is it ever rewarding to see that people are falling in love and making connections to my little creations. If anyone is interested in viewing some of my work, I do have 8-10 pieces down at Arts on Atlantic in Inglewood, a small display of work at Swinton’s Art Supply,  and Eighth Wonder Studio’s has about 8 pieces as well. Please feel free to contact me to arrange a viewing.

Dream Scape Series

I find myself day dreaming a lot. I always have, and it was something I remember getting into trouble with as I was growing up. I constantly had my head in the clouds, thinking about anything and everything, important and not. I have always been a visual person, so when I am day dreaming I see pictures and feel emotions. I find that my night dreams themselves, embrace the same pictorial landscape and usually are epic stories told through symbolism. The type of symbolism, that sometimes when I wake up, it’s like “ what the H-E- double- hockey- sticks was that about?” and other times I can make connections to what my sub conscious is telling me. This connection between symbolism and the subconscious and conscious self is what birthed the idea for my Dream Scape Series.

Crow's and Raven's....

Why do I paint these beautiful creatures?

For the past 10 years I have felt a very strong connection with the Corvid family of birds, which includes Crows and Ravens. These Brilliant, intelligent birds not only have family structures and can be taught to speak the human language (just like parrots), but are the only birds who have been documented using a form of tool (sticks) to get food.  Many cultures have held a fascination for Crow’s and Raven’s over the centuries. So much so, that there is a huge base of mythology in almost every culture across the world.

The Fascination of Figures

The Fascination of Figures

People are so very interesting. I find myself constantly captivated during one of my favorite pastimes of people watching. We really are such amazing pieces of biological, mechanical wonder, not only with how our bodies are put together, but how we have this whole, complex, deeper side of emotions that make us all individuals. In being individuals, we have so many unique ways to communicate our thoughts and feelings through many different outlets - facial features, speech, body language and just the general vibes we can give off. At some point I became fascinated with observing this non verbal form of communication and have experimented with different ways of portraying it through my art.
